Community Food Markets (with Online Appointment Scheduling)

The Food Brigade operates "client choice" free Community Markets in Bergen, Hudson, and Passaic Counties for qualified residents of New Jersey. The atmosphere of our Community Markets is that of a relaxed, grocery store setting. Clients make an appointment in advance in our online scheduling system; come to the Market at their scheduled appointment time; enter the Market and scan their Shopper Card; help themselves to one of our shopping carts; and then go shopping for themselves. We do not operate "walk in" food pantries. Shopping is by appointment only and for registered guests only, in order to avoid long lines and wait times and to increase dignity and respect in the food assistance process. For information on registering as a client, please go to our Assistance page.

Meal Distribution Program

The Food Brigade periodically provides restaurant-prepared meals to unhoused New Jerseyans and to local families in need due to disaster.

Diaper Distribution Program (Infant and Adult)

The Food Brigade operates a program for the distribution of diapers (both infant and adult) and diaper wipes to our registered clients.

Supermarket Gift Card Program

The Food Brigade periodically distributes supermarket gift cards to our registered clients.

Thanksgiving Turkey Drive & Distribution

Annually, The Food Brigade obtains and distributes turkeys at Thanksgiving time.
